Nespresso KitchenAid Overview

Nespresso partnered with KitchenAid a few years ago to develop the mighty and versatile Nespresso KitchenAid. I was super excited to try to out this single-serve coffee maker – it was the talk of the town with a very expensive price tag. Honestly, the espresso maker is definitely famous for all the right reasons!

The machine’s red, bright, and retro design left me in awe for a minute. The unit was a little bulky, with a weight of 19.4 lbs, and is equipped with the traditional pump and pressure brewing mechanism of OriginalLine machines. Moreover, this coffee maker offers six programmable brew sizes; 0.85 oz ristretto, 1.35 oz espresso, 2 oz, 3 oz, 3.70 oz lungo, and 4 oz.

The KitchenAid Nespresso coffee machine also has quick heat-up and brewing time. Trust me; my coffee was ready in a flash! It does not come with a milk frother, but you can always purchase an aeroccino milk frother separately to enjoy milky beverages like lattes and cappuccinos. Also, there are no high-end features like wireless or Bluetooth connectivity.

All in all, the KitchenAid Nespresso is truly one of the best coffee makers I have used. It is versatile and functional and offers some great features that we will discuss below. However, keep in mind that the machine has an expensive price tag.

Things To Consider Before Buying KitchenAid Nespresso

Though you went through a brief tour of what you can expect from the KitchenAid Nespresso machine, there are some other essential factors to consider before finally making the purchase. After all, you need to ensure that the product is the right pick for you, right?

Here is a complete list of all the essential factors and features to keep in mind before buying KitchenAid Nespresso:

1. Design

The KitchenAid Nespresso has a unique and eye-catching design with a cherry red casing. Honestly, I fell in love with the appearance of the machine.

There is a lever at the right side of the machine for conveniently opening the capsule container and a brewing and programming button in the center front.

Moreover, the exterior of the KitchenAid coffee maker is made of pure and high-quality aluminum. This metal construction is undoubtedly very strong and durable.

The machine is a bit heavy, weighing almost 20 pounds. However, despite being heavy, the footprint is still small and will conveniently fit under one of your kitchen cabinets.

All in all, I give 9 out of 10 to KitchenAid Nespresso in the design department; they did work really hard.

2. Water Reservoir

Single-serve espresso makers usually have a small reservoir that needs frequent refilling. However, that is not the case with KitchenAid Nespresso. It features a huge 44 oz water tank at the back, allowing you to brew almost 7 shots of espresso in one refill.

However, if you are a small family or a single person living alone, so, make sure to consider this point before purchasing Nespresso KitchenAid.

3. Usability

If you ask me, I found the KitchenAid Nespresso very easy and convenient to use. It heated up in 30 seconds, and the brewing time was almost the same. All I had to do was play my cup and coffee capsule, select by brew size with the dial, and begin my brewing session by pressing the middle of the dial twice.

The machine also comes with a detailed and handy user guide with all the necessary instructions one might need to operate it. Moreover, KitchenAid Nespresso is also equipped with an auto shut-off feature for energy-saving purposes. It automatically shuts off after 9 minutes of no use.

4. Brewing

As mentioned above, the KitchenAid Nespresso features 6 pre-programmed cup sizes; 0.85 oz ristretto, 1.35 oz espresso, 2 oz, 3 oz, 3.70 oz lungo, and 4 oz. With that said, this versatile machine allows you to brew and enjoy drinks like coffee, mocha, tea, etc.

The machine can also brew milky coffee drinks like a latte and cappuccino when paired with an aeroccino milk frother.

Furthermore, you can also adjust the flavor and strength of your coffee with the help of the dial. Whether you like your espresso weak or strong, KitchenAid Nespresso will help you do both!

5. Coffee Quality

Now the most awaited question is: Does KitchenAid Nespresso brew great quality coffee? Well, the simple answer to this question is YES!

This machine brewed a flavorful and smooth cup of coffee for me every time! The coffee had the most authentic taste with a thick layer of delicious and foamy crema. Also, the aroma of the coffee was pleasant and refreshing! Again, I give considerate points to KitchenAid for coffee quality!

6. Pods Compatibility

As KitchenAid Nespresso is an OriginalLine machine, it is compatible with all Nespresso OriginalLine pods. However, Nespresso pods can be a little bit expensive, no? This is why you can also use third-party Nespresso-compatible pods from brands like Starbucks and Peet’s with this machine.

This freedom of choosing compatible pods is not only light on your pockets but also gives you a wide variety of coffee flavors to choose from. I even tried a variety pack from Starbucks when I was experimenting with KitchenAid Nespresso, and trust me, they worked perfectly!

7. Accessories

The KitchenAid Nespresso comes with a lever and a folding drip tray to give a convenient brewing experience. The machine is also compatible with milk accessories, but unfortunately, you will have to purchase them separately.

If you have the budget and want to make the most out of your KitchenAid Nespresso, I would recommend purchasing an aeroccino milk frother too and enjoy yummy milky drinks!

8. Price

KitchenAid Nespresso is undoubtedly more expensive than most other single-serve coffee makers by Nespresso. However, the plus points are that the machine offers 6 pre-programmed cup sizes, and large water tank, and great durability in return. So, you are genuinely getting what you are paying for.

But if you don’t have the budget and can ditch the large water tank, you can opt for other affordable options.

9. Warranty

As this machine is a co-creation of KitchenAid and Nespresso, you will get a 2 year warranty starting from the time of the purchase. This warranty covers all factory and manufacturing issues. This warranty may also cover repairs and replacements in serious and genuine cases.

Should You Buy Nespresso KitchenAid?

So, Is the KitchenAid Nespresso Coffee Machine worth your money?

Well, the answer to this question depends on your needs and requirements because I didn’t find anything wrong with this coffee maker.

If you are a person with no budget limits and looking for a powerful machine with a large water tank, you can blindly purchase this Nespresso KitchenAid machine. This model is all gold and glitters!

However, if you are tight on budget or don’t need a large water tank, you can look for cheaper options.

Alternatives of Nespresso KitchenAid

I honestly loved every bit of KitchenAid Nespresso, but still, here are a few alternatives for people who may think the machine is not the right pick for them:

Inissia is one of the most popular models by Nespresso with a 24 oz water tank and super compact design. It has an ergonomic design and some functional features too. Also, it offers two cup sizes to choose from; 1.35 oz espresso and 5 oz lungo.

Nespresso Essenza Mini – OriginalLine

Another compact and sleek machine by Nespresso with a water tank capacity of 20 oz and two pre-programmed cup sizes; 1.35 oz espresso and 5 oz lungo. Also, the machine has a quick heat-up and brew time.

Nespresso Essenza Plus – OriginalLine

A Nespresso OriginalLine machine with a 34 oz water tank and a sleek and slim design for a convenient experience. The price is affordable as compared to KitchenAid Nespresso, and it offers 4 brew sizes to choose from; 1.35 oz espresso, 3.70 oz lungo, 5.05 oz Americano, and 6.75 oz Americano XL.
