Keurig K Slim Review

Despite not being the most expensive or fanciest model, the Keurig K Slim does a great job as an entry-level single-serve coffee maker. So, if you’re looking for something that will only take up a tiny space in your home office or small apartment, the Keurig K slim is for you with a modern look, a compact design, and instant brewing.

The latest model of the K slim coffee maker is an innovative upgrade of its previous designs. Multiple new features have been added to the machine, keeping in mind what most coffee lovers usually look for.

The Keurig K Slim coffee maker has got you covered in the following primary factors:

Slim and Portable Design

This is the most remarkable thing about K slim. Just like its name says, the Keurig coffee maker is only a foot long and 4.5 inches wide, compact enough to easily fit in a small office, dorm, apartment, or kitchen with limited countertop space.

Multistream Technology

Multistream technology is the newest and coolest upgrade in the latest models of Keurig K slim single-serve, K cup pod coffee makers.

Due to this, you can now brew a delicious cup of coffee with additional aroma and more flavor from the K-cup pod.

Quick Brewing of Multiple Coffee Cups

Like other skinny Keurig Coffee Makers, The K slim also brews a hot cup of coffee instantly. You can also choose your desired brew sizes, like 6, 8, or 10 oz, without filling the large 46 oz removable water reservoir.

Pros

Cons

It takes up to 3-4 minutes to brew a 6, 8, or 10-oz coffee cup.

Only three brew cup sizes are already pre-set.

A plethora of K-cup pod flavors to choose from.

No strong brewing option.

Extra rich taste and aroma due to multi stream technology.

The water tank is at the back, making it difficult to access for a refill.

Slim and sleek design with a large 46-oz water reservoir.

Does not brew customized drinks.

Compatible with both licensed and unlicensed K pods.

A little pricier than other Keurig K Slim single-serve K-cup pod coffee makers.

Auto-shutting feature after 5 minutes of no use.

Things to Consider Before Buying Keurig K Slim Coffee Maker

Since most of you have already decided to buy this fantastic coffee brewer, let’s dive into a few more Slim Keurig’s features to eliminate any leftover doubts or second thoughts before hitting that “add to cart” button!

Design

The Keurig K Slim Coffee Maker is similar to the K mini, in terms of design, except that it is a few inches taller and more profound. Its measurements are 4.5 inches in width, 15 inches in height, and 12 inches in length.

This makes the design an issue in kitchens with low cabinets since the height increases to 16.5 inches when the latch is open. However, the machine is small enough only to take up a little space on a countertop and is perfect for a small apartment or home office.

Despite its skinny design, the water reservoir at the rear side of the K slim makes it a little longer than expected. So, you would need to pull out your machine to top up the water tank.

But the good part is that the reservoir is 46 oz, which means you can brew up to 4-5 drinks without having to refill the water tank.

Coffee Quality

Since I have tasted multiple coffees brewed with other Keurig models, I must say that the K slim coffee maker does it far better than others.

I brewed a few 12-oz cups, each time surprised to get a freshly brewed, delicious coffee at home.

However, I was pretty disappointed that the K slim coffee maker still lacks adequate temperature control and does not reach beyond 181 Fahrenheit.

It lacked the typical coffee crema and froth, which is a significant drawback for most coffee enthusiasts.

In contrast, the standard temperature for the coffee to get brewed is 195-206 degrees Fahrenheit. The Keurig K Slim machine does not do that!

Speed

If you are an impatient coffee lover like me, who just can’t wait or always get late for work, then the Keurig K Slim brewer is the perfect choice to have your drink ready on the go!

Due to this innovative and upgraded model’s advanced multi stream technology, you can enjoy a freshly-brewed drink in less than two minutes. How cool is that?

Usability

The brewing process is easy and quick, which makes Keurig one of the most popular coffee maker brands in the world. There are four buttons on the K-Slim: one for each serving size and one to start the brewing process.

You don’t have to worry about overflowing with the skinny Keurig because the brew volume indicator tells you how much to brew, and you can also see how low the water is by looking at the indicator window.

Simply fill up the water reservoir, open the pod compartment’s latch, insert a K-Cup, and close it to start the machine. Press brew, choose how much you want by selecting your cup size, and wait.

However, you must ensure that the water reservoir is filled with 12 oz of water every time, even if you are making an 8 or 10-oz cup. If not, the sensor light won’t turn off, thus not starting the brewing process.

Multistream Technology

The most advanced upgrade in Keurig since the last three years is the addition of its multi stream technology, which provides an extra aromatic and creamier coffee, extracting full aroma and flavor from the K cup pod.

This upgrade lets five pins pierce the K cup simultaneously instead of a single nail, thus allowing more water to flow inside and saturate the entire coffee grounds. Thus you can enjoy the same perks as an auto pour-over coffee machine.

Reliability

I made three mugs of back-to-back coffee to see how reliable this product is. To my surprise, the brewer worked perfectly, with an average 2.5-degree temperature difference between each mug.

The machine showed excellent consistency in making coffee in less than two minutes from the first to the third cup.

Water Reservoir

Keurig K-Slim’s water tank is one of its most outstanding features. Although small and compact, the Keurig K-Slim has a large, removable water reservoir. It holds 46 ounces of water, which means you can get four 8-ounce cups of coffee from it.

In contrast to the K-Mini or K-Mini Plus, you will not need to refill the water tank every time you use the machine.

Brewing Options

Since all coffee drinkers are not equal, I like to have coffee in small quantities throughout the day. But there are other people who want to gobble a large mug to start their day.

For this reason, the Keurig K Slim coffee maker is an excellent investment because it comes with the most popular three types of cup sizes. 8, 10, and 12 oz, respectively.

However, if you are still not satisfied with the cup size, simply remove the drip tray from the bottom of the machine, and you can brew a full 7-inch coffee mug! No space limitations!

Pods Compatibility

Another great thing about the slim Keurig coffee maker is its compatibility with other coffee brands, apart from the K cup pods. You can choose any of your favorite brands, like Starbucks, Gloria Jeans, Green Mountain, etc., to brew a drink of the flavor you love!

As far as the Keurig pods are concerned, it offers you a plethora of options and flavors to enjoy a fresh, cafe-style coffee at home!

Price

The price for the skinny Keurig starts from $129, which may vary according to the color you choose for your machine.

Moreover, you can also find the K slim on Amazon and its website, where the product is often on sale at an excellent price.

However, for the K cup pods, the price range starts from $7 to $14, depending on the brand of your choice.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Due to its simple brewing process, cleaning your Keurig K slim coffee maker is relatively easy.

Since you can pour the coffee from the machine directly into the cup, your maintenance tenure extends to once every 3-4 months due to no mess and spills over the coffee maker.

Regular maintenance would prevent the hard water buildup inside the water tank.

A descale button on the K-Slim runs the 15-20 cleaning cycle automatically.

However, the water filter should be changed after 60 brewed cups or every two months.

Advanced Features

Unlike other Keurig coffee maker models, the skinny K slim lacks advanced features like brewing strength, ice coffee, or temperature control.

However, this model makes it up for you by offering two excellent features: hot water and flexible cup size options.

I have already discussed the flexible cup sizes above, so let me tell you about the hot water option. There is no dedicated button for pouring boiling water from the machine.

But, just before inserting the K pod, press your desired cup size, and voila! Your boiling cup of water is here to make your tea, hot cocoa, or anything else you want!

Warranty

The Keurig K Slim coffee maker covers the warranty for up to one year from the date of purchase.

You should register your K slim brewer by connecting it to Wi-Fi, which will automatically record your coffee appliance in the company’s data.

Keurig K Slim Vs K Elite

Both the Keurig K-Elite and K-Slim are part of the company’s Platinum line, which is their highest-end product. Both are touchscreen machines with lots of features, but with significant differences.

Despite being more expensive, Keurig K-Elite produces a wide range of beverages with multiple brewing options. In contrast, the skinny K slim has a sleeker design than the Elite.

Still, it lacks several advanced features, like temperature control, a strong brew option, iced coffee settings, etc., unlike K Elite, which has it all, but more on the expensive side.

Keurig K Mini Vs K Slim

There are more options with Keurig K Slim than with Keurig K Mini, which is also much faster than the latter.

With K Mini, you must add water manually to each cup, then wait two minutes for it to heat and brew. But, after you turn on K Slim, it needs to heat the water, but it reheats quickly between cups.

The K slim features different cup sizes, while the K mini offers brewing sizes by measuring the added water.

While the K mini is much cheaper than the skinny Keurig, you can often find the Keurig K slim deals on sale on Amazon.

Keurig K Express Vs K Slim

Even though the K Express water reservoir is slightly smaller, refilling it with a side mount and a finger grip for carrying is much easier.

Whereas, in K slim, you can fill up to 46 oz of water, unlike K express, having a capacity of only 39 oz. Both machines take less than two minutes to brew coffee, lacking a strong brewing feature.

Moreover, compared to K-Express, the K slim’s size is slightly bigger but hardly noticeable.

Is the Keurig K Slim Worth it?

To be honest, absolutely! After penning down the Keurig K Slim review, I feel this coffee beast is worth investing in!

Though it is not the best Keurig coffee maker, it is a 10/10 having a sleek and compact design, occupying a small space in your kitchen, and a perfect appliance for smaller homes having limited counter space.

Unlike other larger models, this k slim single-serve k cup pod coffee maker is an excellent machine for making one cup at a time.

I love how the water level is displayed in the front, though the tank is located at the back of the coffee maker. It makes it easy to brew multiple cups of coffee without having to refill the reservoir repeatedly. The most remarkable thing about this skinny Keurig K Slim!

However, the coffee is not one of its best quality because there is no temperature-control or strength-control feature.

So, if you are a cappuccino lover with that frothy layer on the top, this Keurig K Slim coffee brewer can be a disappointment. Despite adjusting for three different cup sizes, the K-Slim tends to produce watery coffee with an average coffee taste.

But, with under two minutes of brewing time, the K-Slim makes an excellent buy if you are looking for convenience, compactness, and a quick morning drink on the go!

Alternatives of Keurig K Slim

After reading the Keurig K Slim review, if you still think you are not satisfied and looking for more than the latter offers, here are the three best alternatives to the Keurig machines.

Hamilton Beach Flexbrew

A compact coffee maker, which can be used with both K cup pods or grounds, the Hamilton Beach Flexbrew comes with temperature and strength control features. But, the water tank is just 16 oz, much smaller than the K slim and more cost-friendly.

ADIRchef

A mini portable coffee machine that can brew up to 14-oz drinks in the mug that comes with the appliance. But this brewer works only with coffee grounds and is more like the K mini, measuring the brew size with the water it adds to your coffee mug. Also, the price is super low compared to the skinny Keurig.

Cuisinart SS-10

One of the most accessible machines, this pod and coffee ground-based Cuisinart SS-10 coffee brewer offers multiple brewing options, with five cup sizes and two temperature control options. Unlike K Slim, the water tank of this coffee maker is much bigger, filling up to 72 oz, thus slightly bigger in size compared to an average single-serve coffee machine.
